NOTICE RE CEILIDH DANCES:-<\/strong>
\nThe Ceilidh dances on January 29 and February 26 are cancelled.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Updates will be announced if there are any changes or more cancellations.\u00a0 It does not look good for the rest of this season despite the arrival of vaccinations but I am loath to announce the cancellation of the whole season of Ceilidh dancing.\u00a0 I will leave it open for the very faint <\/b>possibility<\/b><\/span> of dances in March and April.\u00a0 In the meantime be kind, calm and safe.<\/b><\/p>\n

  5. Every few days try your jeans on just to make sure they fit. Pajamas will have you believe all is well.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  6. This virus has done what no woman has been able to do. Cancel sports, shut down all bars & keep men at home!<\/strong><\/li>\n
  7. I need to practice social-distancing from the refrigerator.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  8. I hope the weather is good tomorrow for my trip to the Backyard. I\u2019m getting tired of the Living Room.<\/strong><\/li>\n

      We have raked up most of the leaves now – then BC Hydro came by and trimmed the cedar etc, at the front so that it was well clear of all the wires running up the street.\u00a0 It was pouring and the crew made an attempt to clear up but they left a lot of small branches etc. so this morning I was out, after my walk, to clear them up.\u00a0 They nearly filled a large green bin!<\/p>\n

      We got our overseas Christmas cards mailed on December 1 and the Canadian were mailed on last weekend.\u00a0 What a price for postage even though I buy the international stamps and add them at the post office to avoid the GST – what we Scots will do to save a few cents!!\u00a0 I delivered some local – White Rock etc. – yesterday while Margaret played bridge online then in then afternoon we walked down to Crescent Beach and hand delivered a few more.\u00a0 We still have some to deliver but the majority are gone.\u00a0 Of course I still have to send you all one from Ceilidh dancing but that will not be for a few more days yet.<\/p>\n

      We tried to cut down our list and e-mail people rather than mailing but somehow it is not the same and in this time of restrictions many people appreciate getting something tangible.\u00a0 I hope those who did get our card by e-mail\u00a0 understand,<\/p>\n

      Father O’Malley rose from his bed one morning.\u00a0\u00a0It was a fine spring day in his new parish.\u00a0\u00a0He walked to the window of his bedroom to get a deep breath of the\u00a0beautiful day outside. He then noticed there was . . . a donkey lying\u00a0dead in the middle of his front lawn. He promptly called the local\u00a0police station.<\/p>\n

      The conversation went like this:<\/p>\n

      “Good morning. This is Sergeant Jones. How might I help you?”<\/p>\n

      “And the best of the day te yerself . This is Father O’Malley at St.\u00a0Ann’s Catholic Church. There” is a donkey lying dead in me front lawn\u00a0and would ye be so kind as to send a couple o’yer lads to take care of the matter?”<\/p>\n

      Sergeant Jones, considering himself to be quite a wit and recognizing\u00a0the Irish accent, thought he would have a little fun with the good\u00a0father, replied, “Well now Father, it was always my impression that\u00a0you people took care of the last rites!”<\/p>\n

      There was dead silence on the line for a moment . . . . . . .<\/p>\n

      Father O’Malley then replied:<\/p>\n

      “Aye,’ tis certainly true; but we are also obliged to notify the next\u00a0of kin first, which is the reason for me call.”<\/p>\n

      Edward I of England comes to Scotland to<\/strong> conquer the Scots.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong>He brings 4,000 men with him. As he nears the battlefield,<\/strong> there suddenly appears a solitary figure<\/strong> on the crest of the hill. A short, ginger-haired guy in a kilt. <\/strong><\/p>\n

      ‘Come\u00a0 up here, ya English bastards, and I’ll\u00a0 give ye a\u00a0 hammerin’!’ <\/strong>

      \nEdward turns to his commander. ‘Send 20 men to deal with that little Scottish upstart, he says.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

      The commander sends twenty of his best men over the hill to kill the Scotsman<\/strong>
      \n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>
      \nTen minutes later, at the crest of the hill,<\/strong> the little Scot\u00a0 appears again.<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong>‘Ya English diddies!’ he yells.’Come on the rest of ye!! Come on, I’ll take ye all on!’<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Edward is getting somewhat annoyed.\u00a0 He turns\u00a0 to his commander.<\/strong> ‘Send 100 men to kill that little shite!’\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

      The commander sends 100 men<\/strong> Over the hill to do the job. <\/strong><\/p>\n

      Ten minutes later, the little Scot appears at the top of\u00a0 the<\/strong> hill once more, his hair all sticking up, his shirt a wee bit torn.\u00a0 <\/strong>‘Ya\u00a0 English SCUM!’ he yells. ‘I’m\u00a0 just warming up!! Come and get me, Ya\u00a0 English shites !!’<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Edward losses patience. ‘Commander, take 400 men and personally<\/strong> wipe that little bastard off the face of the earth!’ he yells.. <\/strong><\/p>\n

      The commander gulps, but leads four<\/strong> Hundred men on horseback over the crest of the hill.<\/strong>
      \n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>
      \nTen minutes later, the little Scotsman is back.\u00a0 <\/strong>His\u00a0 clothing is all torn,<\/strong> his face is covered in blood, Snot and Irn-Bru.\u00a0 <\/strong>‘Is that\u00a0 the best ye can do??? You’re bloody WUMMIN!!! Come on!! Come and have a go, ya bunch of English Shites!!!’ he\u00a0 yells.<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Edward turns to his second in command. ‘Take 1,000 men over that hill and don’t come back till you’ve killed that little red haired bastard!’ he commands.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

      The\u00a0 second in command gathers the men and they ride off\u00a0 over the hill to their fate.<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Ten minutes later, one of the English troops appears back\u00a0 at the top of the hill. covered in blood, his clothes all torn off his back.<\/strong> ‘Your Majesty!’ he yells.\u00a0 <\/strong>It’s a\u00a0 trap!!!\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

      There’s two of\u00a0 them!!!’<\/strong><\/p>\n

      A woman was at her hairdresser’s getting her hair styled for a trip to Rome with her husband.\u00a0 <\/span>She mentioned the trip to the hairdresser, who responded: <\/span><\/div>\n

      “Rome?\u00a0 <\/span>Why would anyone want to go there? It’s crowded and dirty.\u00a0 <\/span>You’re crazy to go to Rome. So, how are you getting there?<\/span><\/div>\n

      “BA?” exclaimed the hairdresser. ” That’s a terrible airline.\u00a0 Their planes are old, their flight attendants are ugly, and they’re always late.\u00a0\u00a0So, where are you staying in Rome ?” <\/span><\/div>\n

      “We’ll be at this exclusive little place over on Rome’s Tiber River called Teste.”<\/span><\/div>\n

      “Don’t go any further. I know that place.\u00a0 <\/span>Everybody thinks its gonna be something special and exclusive, but it’s really a dump.”<\/span><\/div>\n

      “We’re going to go to see the Vatican and maybe get to see the Pope.”<\/span><\/div>\n

      “That’s rich,” laughed the hairdresser. You and a million other people trying to see him.<\/span>
      \nHe’ll look the size of an ant.\u00a0\u00a0Boy, good luck on this lousy trip of yours. You’re going to need it.” <\/span><\/div>\n

      A month later, the woman again came in for a hairdo.\u00a0 <\/span>The hairdresser asked her about her trip to Rome<\/span>“It was wonderful,” explained the woman, “not only were we on time in one of BA’s brand new planes, but it was overbooked, and they bumped us up to first class.\u00a0 The food and wine were wonderful, and I had a handsome 28-year-old steward who waited on me hand and foot.\u00a0\u00a0And the hotel was great! They’d just finished a \u00a35 million remodeling job, and now it’s a jewel, the finest hotel in the city.\u00a0 They too, were overbooked, so they apologized and gave us their owner’s suite at no extra charge!”<\/p>\n

      “Well,” muttered the hairdresser, “that’s all well and good, but I bet you didn’t get to see the Pope.”<\/p>\n

      “Actually, we were quite lucky, because as we toured the Vatican, a Guard tapped me on the shoulder, and explained that the Pope likes to meet some of the visitors, and if I’d be so kind as to step into his private room and wait, the Pope would personally greet me.<\/p>\n

      Sure enough, five minutes later, the Pope walked through the door and shook my hand! I knelt down and he spoke a few words to me”<\/p>\n

      “Oh, really! \u00a0What’d he say?”<\/p>\n

      He said: “Who the F#%* cuts your hair?”<\/p>\n

      Three friends married women from different parts of the world…..<\/p>\n

      The first man married an Indian. He told her that she was to do the dishes and\u00a0house cleaning.\u00a0 It took a couple of days, but on the third day, he came home to see a clean\u00a0house and dishes washed and put away.<\/p>\n

      The second man married a Thai. He gave his wife orders\u00a0that she was to do all\u00a0the cleaning, dishes and the cooking. He said the first day he didn’t see anything, the second day he didn’t\u00a0see anything but by the third day,\u00a0some of the swelling had gone down and he could\u00a0see a little out of his left eye and his arm was healed enough that he could fix himself\u00a0a sandwich and load the dishwasher. He still has some difficulty when he\u00a0passes water.<\/p>\n

      Forgot My Glasses<\/p>\n

      Yesterday my daughter again asked why I didn’t do something useful with my time. Talking about my “doing something useful” seemed to be her favorite topic of conversation. She was “only thinking of me” and suggested I go down to the senior center and hang out with the guys. I did this and when I got home last night I decided to teach her a lesson about staying out of my business. I told her that I had joined a parachute club.<\/p>\n

      She said, “Are you nuts? You’re almost 72 years old and you’re going to start jumping out of airplanes?”\u00a0 I proudly showed her that I even got a membership card.<\/p>\n

      She said to me, “Good grief, where are your glasses! This is a membership to a Prostitute Club, not a Parachute Club.”<\/p>\n

      “I’m in trouble again, and I don’t know what to do… I signed up for five jumps a week.” I told her. She fainted.<\/p>\n

      Life as a senior citizen is not getting any easier but sometimes it can be fun.<\/p>\n

      Two best friends graduated from medical school at the same time and decided that, in spite of two different specialties, they would open a practice together to share office space and personnel. Dr. Smith was the psychiatrist and Dr. Jones was the proctologist.<\/p>\n

      They put up a sign reading: “Dr. Smith and Dr. Jones: Hysterias and Posteriors”. The town council was livid and insisted they change it.<\/p>\n

      So, the docs changed it to read: “Schizoids and Hemorrhoids”. This was also not acceptable, so they again changed the sign. “Catatonics and High Colonics” \u2013 No go.<\/p>\n

      Next, they tried “Manic Depressives and Anal Retentives” \u2013 thumbs down again. Then came “Minds and Behinds” \u2013 still no good.<\/p>\n

      Another attempt resulted in “Lost Souls and Butt Holes” \u2013 unacceptable again! So they tried “Analysis and Anal Cysts” \u2013 not a chance. “Nuts and Butts” \u2013 no way. “Freaks and Cheeks” \u2013 still no good. “Loons and Moons” \u2013 forget it.<\/p>\n

      Almost at their wit’s end, the docs finally came up with: “Dr. Smith and Dr. Jones – Specializing in Odds and Ends”.<\/p>\n

      Everyone loved it.<\/p>\n
