www.rscdsvancouver.org.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The 2021\/22 season for Ceilidh Dances are scheduled (all on Friday evenings) as follows:-<\/b><\/p>\n<p><strong>April 29, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We have also booked the hall for the next season:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2022<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>September 30<br \/>\nOctober 23<br \/>\nNovember 25<br \/>\n2023<br \/>\nJanuary 27<br \/>\nFebruary 24<br \/>\nMarch 31<br \/>\nApril 28<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mark your calendars now!<\/p>\n<p><strong>The dances will be classified as a class as all dances will be taught and will be <\/strong><strong>held at the Scottish Cultural Centre, 8886 Hudson Street, Vancouver but, there is a slight change of time.\u00a0 The class will be held in the large hall from 7:00 &#8211; 7:45 then we will all exit to give the band a chance for a sound check etc. and the dance class will run from 8:00 &#8211; 10:30 with live music by Calanais.\u00a0 Alison will continue to be your teacher\/caller so you are guaranteed to have a great evening.\u00a0 No change to the admission &#8211; still $15 with students $10.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>Let us all hope that the dances will not be <\/b><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>interrupted<\/b><\/span><b> by anything and we will have lots of dancing and fun again.\u00a0 Any questions?\u00a0 please contact me &#8211; background-color: #ffff99;\"><strong>In order to keep the Ceilidh Dances running it takes a number of volunteers to do various jobs such as: &#8211; <\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; background-color: #ffff99;\"><strong>getting the liquor licence<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\"><strong>re-stocking the supply of drinks and refreshments and getting them to the hall<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\"><strong>Filling the water jugs before and during the dance<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\"><strong>Checking the vaccine passports &amp; identification of all attendees<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\"><strong>Collecting the entrance fees, keeping track of the number of dancers, reconciling the funds collected, adding the donations, paying the expenses<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\"><strong>Calculating the cost of the drinks used\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\">Etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\">Etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #ff0000; background-color: #ffff99;\"><strong>These duties are not necessarily for one person.\u00a0 Is there anyone who would like to volunteer to help at the Ceilidh dances?\u00a0 \u00a0If so please send me an email &#8211; She writes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dear Grand-daughter,<\/p>\n<p>The other day I went up to our local Christian book store and saw a<br \/>\n&#8216;Honk if you love Jesus&#8217; bumper sticker ..<\/p>\n<p>I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting.<\/p>\n<p>So, I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper.<\/p>\n<p>Boy, am I glad I did; what an uplifting experience that followed.<\/p>\n<p>I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good he is, and I didn&#8217;t notice that the light had changed.<\/p>\n<p>It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn&#8217;t honked, I&#8217;d never have noticed..<\/p>\n<p>I found that lots of people love Jesus!<\/p>\n<p>While I was sitting there, the guy behind started honking like crazy, and then he leaned out of his window and screamed, &#8216;For the love of God!&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Go! Go! Go! Jesus Christ, GO!&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus!<\/p>\n<p>Everyone started honking!<\/p>\n<p>I just leaned out my window and started waving and smiling at all those loving people.<\/p>\n<p>I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love! ;\u00a0 There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yelling something about a sunny beach.<\/p>\n<p>I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air.<\/p>\n<p>I asked my young teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant.<\/p>\n<p>He said it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign or something.<\/p>\n<p>Well, I have never met anyone from Hawaii , so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign right back.<\/p>\n<p>My grandson burst out laughing.<\/p>\n<p>Why even he was enjoying this religious experience!!<\/p>\n<p>A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me.<\/p>\n<p>I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed.<\/p>\n<p>So, grinning, I waved at all my brothers and sisters, and drove on through the intersection.<\/p>\n<p>I noticed that I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light changed again and felt kind of sad that I had to leave them after all the love we had shared.<\/p>\n<p>So I slowed the car down, leaned out the window and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away.
