Welcome to another season of Ceilidh Dances and the newsletter which will come out from time to time with information re upcoming Scottish events.\u00a0 \u00a0Greetings to many first timers who gave me their e-mail addresses at Stanley Park on Monday evenings during the summer.\u00a0 If you do not want to receive these newsletters just scroll down to the foot on the cover page and click on “unsubscribe”<\/p>\n

A reminder that there is a special class for all those interested at West End Community Centre, Denman Street on Monday August 29 at 7 pm.\u00a0 \u00a0All info on the link that follows.\u00a0 Click on the link to download the Word document.\u00a0 It would help us to plan if you would register in advance but you can register on the day plan on coming early<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0the class is Free and remember to bring your own water bottle.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The 2022\/23 season for Ceilidh Dances are scheduled (all on Friday evenings) as follows:-<\/b><\/p>\n

The dances will be will be <\/strong>held at the Scottish Cultural Centre, 8886 Hudson Street, Vancouver.\u00a0 The class will be held in the large hall from 7:00 – 7:45 then we will all exit to give the band a chance for a sound check etc. and the dance class will run from 8:00 – 10:30 with live music by Calanais.\u00a0 Alison will continue to be your teacher\/caller so you are guaranteed to have a great evening.\u00a0 No change to the admission – still $15 with students $10.<\/strong><\/p>\n

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO TO MARRY? (written by kids)<\/strong><\/p>\n

1<\/strong>. You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming. — Alan, age 10<\/strong><\/p>\n

-No person really decides before they grow up who they’re going to marry. God decides it all the way before, and you get to find out later who you’re stuck with. — Kristen, age 10<\/strong><\/p>\n

2<\/strong>. WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED?

5<\/strong>. WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE?<\/p>\n

Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough. — Lynnette, age 8<\/strong> (isn’t she a treasure?)<\/p>\n

On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date. — Martin, age 10<\/strong><\/p>\n

6<\/strong>. WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE?
\nWhen they’re rich. — Pam, age 7<\/strong> (Love her)<\/p>\n

The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn’t want to mess with that. – – Curt, age 7<\/strong><\/p>\n

The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should marry them and have kids with them. It’s the right thing to do. Howard, age 8<\/strong><\/p>\n

7<\/strong>. IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED
\nIt’s better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them. — Anita, age 9<\/strong> (bless you child)<\/p>\n

Most Scottish Country dance classes will start again in September.\u00a0 As of the date of writing this I do not have details of exact dates but I will get them before the next newsletter and they will be on both the Branch – www.rscdsvancouver.org<\/a> and Ceilidh\u00a0 –www.ceilidhvancouver.org<\/a> websites.<\/p>\n
