What a great turn out for last Friday’s Ceilidh Dance – 117 dancers which is the most since March 22, 2013 when we had a whopping 145 which, I believe, is the record attendance for a Ceilidh dance at the Scottish Cultural Centre.\u00a0 It was a lively evening which Alison led with her usual grace and humor and Calanais rose to the occasion with some splendid tunes.\u00a0 It would be fabulous if we could have the same great attendance at the February 24th Ceilidh dance.\u00a0 If you each brought someone else we would break to 200 mark and we would open up the partition!<\/p>\n

Scottish Country dance classes have started up again so check which classes fit your schedule and come along – many first nights are free – check out the new beginner class on the North Shore.<\/p>\n

Do not forget the Ceilidh Dance on Friday February 24\u00a0in the Scottish Cultural Centre, 8886 Hudson Street, Vancouver.\u00a0 There is a free class at 7 pm then the dance follows from 8 – 10:30 pm with live music by Calanais.\u00a0 All easy dances that are taught and called and everyone has lots of fun and great exercise.\u00a0 Tell your friends and make it an outing – it only costs $15 ($10 for students) and there are refreshments (including cider & beer) for a donation.\u00a0 Remember it is “cash only” both for admittance and the refreshments.\u00a0 <\/strong>Mark your calendars now and make plans to join the fun.<\/p>\n

\nSuddenly\u00a0 she sneezed, and her glass eye came flying out of its socket towards the\u00a0 man. He reflexively reached out, grabbed it out of the air, and handed it\u00a0 back.<\/strong><\/p>\n

‘Oh my, I am so sorry,’ the woman said, as she popped her eye\u00a0 back in place. ‘Let me buy your dinner to make it up to\u00a0 you.’

\nThey enjoyed a wonderful dinner\u00a0 together, and afterwards they went to the theatre followed by drinks…\u00a0 They talked, they laughed, she shared her deepest dreams and he shared\u00a0 his. She listened to him with interest.

\nAfter\u00a0 paying for everything, she asked him if he would like to come to her place\u00a0 for a nightcap and stay for breakfast. They had a wonderful, wonderful\u00a0 time..

\nThe\u00a0 next morning, she cooked a gourmet meal with all the trimmings. The guy\u00a0 was amazed. Everything had been so incredible!

\n‘You\u00a0 know,’ he said, ‘you are the perfect woman.. Are you this nice to every\u00a0 guy you meet?’<\/p>\n

‘No,’ she replies. . ..<\/p>\n

The Burns Supper is over and I received many plaudits for an excellent evening.\u00a0 I bask in the glory which was the result of all the hard work of my committee but I get all the praise!!\u00a0 Over 160 enjoyed dinner, entertainment and dancing to the music of Mary Ross and there were smiling faces everywhere.\u00a0 The one big downer was that the gates of the Airport Square parking lot remained closed and I had requested they be open for that evening and had advertised that the lot would be open and free.\u00a0 Many folk were left to look for a space on the street.\u00a0 That was my main job and I failed.\u00a0 I wont be asked to head the committee again.\u00a0 Some say I planned it all!!<\/p>\n

The next thing on the RSCDS calendar is the Love to Dance Workshop and Dance which is also held at the Scottish Cultural Centre on March 4 with two great teachers – Rebecca Blackhall-Peters and\u00a0 \u00a0– plus music for the dance by Mary Ross.\u00a0 Prior attendance at Scottish Country dance classes is required.\u00a0 Registration at www.rscdsvancouver.org<\/a><\/p>\n
