\u00a080 degrees while resting and 90 degrees while the physio is pushing and I am screaming not so silently in great pain!!\u00a0 That is where I am at and my knee still feels sore are physio yesterday.\u00a0 Don’t know if I will make 90 degrees while resting before I see the surgeon in 1 week but at least I am closer than I thought I would be but I don’t look forward to the physio appointments and I have 3 more before my appointment.<\/span><\/p>\n

The next Ceilidh Dance will be held on Friday, November 28 <\/b>in the Scottish Cultural Centre, 8886 Hudson Street, Vancouver<\/span>.\u00a0 We start the evening with a free class from 7 – 7;45 pm followed by the dance from 8 – 10:30 ish\u00a0 Come and join us for a great evening of dancing, fun and social interaction.\u00a0 As these dances continue to grow in popularity you may need to come early to ensure your place.\u00a0 Great fun was had at the last Ceilidh in October and Alison, as always, kept you all moving and dancing to the great music provided by Calanais.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the last Ceilidh dance of the year and it will be the last dance before an admission price increase!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Due to increasing rents and other costs we have to plan on an increase in the admission to the Ceildh dances.\u00a0 We have managed to hold them at the current rate of $15 ($10 for students) since September, 2017 which is really rather remarkable.\u00a0 Starting in January, 2026 admission will be $20 ($15 for students).\u00a0 We will not push for the donations towards the refreshments and we will accept credit\/debit cards as well as cash.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

We really hope this increase will not deter anyone from coming.\u00a0 If you have a group of 8 or more and pay cash, thus saving us the credit card fees, the group can come for $18 pp ($13 ps for students).\u00a0 To take advantage of this you have to plan ahead.\u00a0 Talk with any one of us on this or any other topic.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

We do accept credit cards, though cash is preferred.\u00a0 Please let your friends aware of the changes.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

For those of the \u00a0older generation (like me) who do not really comprehend
\nthe need for Facebook:<\/p>\n

Presently, I am trying to make friends outside of Facebook while applying
\nthe same principles.<\/p>\n

Therefore, every day I walk down the street and tell the passers-by what
\nI have eaten, how I feel, what I have done the night before, and what I
\nwill do tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Then, I give them pictures of my family, my dog, me gardening, and
\nspending time in my pool. I also listen to their conversations, and I
\ntell them I love them.<\/p>\n

And, it works.<\/p>\n

I already have three persons following me … two police officers and a
\npsychiatrist.<\/p>\n

The dances are held in the Scottish Cultural Centre, 8886 Hudson Street, Vancouver which is a block north of\u00a0 SW Marine between Granville & Oak in Marpole.\u00a0 The evening starts with a free class from 7 – 7:45 and the dance with the live music of Calanais follows from 8 – 10:30.\u00a0 Admission is $15 (students $10) and there are refreshments available but remember CASH is preferred<\/strong>.\u00a0 Remember to bring some extra cash so you can donate towards the cost of the beer\/cider\/soft drinks\/cookies etc.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

If you are interested in moving to the next level up from Ceilidh dancing you should try Scottish Country dancing which is more refined than Ceilidh dancing but still lots of fun.\u00a0 Weekly classes will start up again in January so plan to come along give it a try, you will be made very welcome.\u00a0 \u00a0To help everyone find a convenient class here is a link to all the classes in and around Vancouver and the start time if known.\u00a0 Ask any of us at the dances for more information.<\/span><\/p>\n

A woman goes to the Doctor in Glasgae, worried about her husband’s temper and threatening manner.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Doc asks: “What’s the problem, Terina?<\/em><\/p>\n

The woman says: “Weeell Doctor Cameron, I dinae know what to do. Every time
\n<\/em>ma hubbie comes home drunk, he threatens to slap me aroon’.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The Doctor says: “Aye, well… I have a real good cure for that. When your<\/em>
\nhusband arrives home intoxicated, just take a wee glass of water and start<\/em>
\nswishing it in your mouth. Just swish and swish but don’t swallow it until<\/em>
\nhe goes to bed and is sound asleep.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Two weeks later she comes back to the doctor looking fresh and reborn.<\/em>
\nShe says: “Doctor that was brilliant! Evrae time ma hubbie came<\/em>
\nhome drunk, I swished with water. I swished an’ swished, and he didnae<\/em>
\ntouch me even once!<\/em><\/p>\n

Tell me Doc…wha’s the secret? How’s the water do that?”<\/em>

\nThe Doctor says: “Terina hen, it’s really nae big secret. The water does<\/em>
\nbugger all – it’s keeping your mouth shut that does the trick…”<\/em><\/p>\n

Ed and Carolyn met while on a singles cruise and Ed fell head over heels for her.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>When they discovered they lived in the same\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>city only a few miles apart Ed was ecstatic. He immediately started asking her out when they got home.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Within a couple of weeks, Ed had taken Carolyn to dance clubs, restaurants, concerts, movies, and museums. Ed became\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>convinced that Carolyn was indeed his soul mate…and true love. Every date seemed better than the last.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

On the one-month anniversary of their first dinner on the cruise ship, Ed took Carolyn to a fine restaurant. While having cocktails and waiting for their salad, Ed said, “I guess you can tell I’m very much in love with you. I’d like a little serious talk before our relationship continues to the next stage. So, before I get a box out of my jacket and ask you a life changing question, it’s only fair to warn you, I’m a total golf nut. I play golf, I read about golf, I watch golf on TV. In short, I eat, sleep, and breathe golf. If that’s going to be a problem for us, you’d better say so now!”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Carolyn took a deep breath and responded, “Ed that certainly won’t be a problem. I love you as you are and I love golf too; but,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>since we’re being totally honest with each other, you need to know that for the last five years I’ve been a hooker.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Ed said, “I bet it’s because you’re not keeping your wrists straight when you hit the ball.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The dances will be will be <\/strong>held at the Scottish Cultural Centre, 8886 Hudson Street, Vancouver.\u00a0 The class will be held in the large hall from 7:00 – 7:45 then we will give the band a chance for a sound check etc. and the dance will run from 8:00 – 10:30 with live music by Calanais.\u00a0 Alison will continue to be your teacher\/caller so you are guaranteed to have a great evening.\u00a0 No change to the admission – still $15 with students $10 but there will be an increase in January, 2026<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Help us spread the word – I am not into social media but I am sure somebody can promote the Ceilidh Dance(s) there for me especially out at the Colleges and Universities.\u00a0 Tell all your friends to come along – it really is a fun (and cheap!) evening.\u00a0 DON’T FORGET CASH IS PREFERRED.\u00a0 <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n
