Well our little club came together and their hard work was rewarded with a great evening of dance, great music, good company and great food.\u00a0\u00a0 I think, though I may be a wee bit prejudiced, that I can say the 4th Annual Fall Frolic was a success.\u00a0\u00a0 The 50 – 60 folk who came were treated to some superb music by the Tartan Players.\u00a0\u00a0 The hall was not crowded – those who did not choose to come\u00a0should definitely plan to come along next year when the 5th Annual Fall Frolic will be held on Saturday, September 5.\u00a0\u00a0 A big thanks to Mary Ann, Kerry and all the club members as well as to those who kindly brought a plate of food.<\/p>\n

The Centre does not run itself but is actually run by the United Scottish Cultural Society (USCS<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>). Memberships in this Society are for individuals only and presently cost $10 annually. Membership Application Forms may be obtained either at the Centre or on the USCS<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> website – www.scottishculturalcentre.com<\/a> .<\/p>\n Any person may join USCS<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> and Scottish Ceilidh Dancers are encouraged to show their support by doing so. If any USCS<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> member would like to be more involved, then, Darryl Carracher<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>, the Manager at the Centre, will be pleased to give you further information. We have just finished replacing the roof which was a major expense.\u00a0 We also plan to paint and spruce up the main hall but that will not take place until September at the earliest.<\/p>\n Upgrades to the Centre are also being considered so it is particularly appropriate that dancers join USCS<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>. No final decisions on these upgrades will be made before Members of USCS<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> are fully informed.<\/p>\n EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n It has been a QUIET week with no grandchildren asking this or that, needing to be walked down to lessons etc.\u00a0\u00a0 I did dismantle, clean and put away the trampoline and I have emptied the hot tub but still have to clean it.\u00a0\u00a0 We have put toys away, got rid of a few things they have all grown out of and loads of laundry has been done so that all the beds are ready again.\u00a0\u00a0 Ken & Kirsten are coming down from Terrace to stay for a few days again.<\/p>\n There was getting organised for the walk through on Wednesday night and the dance on Saturday, a trip to the office and the Cultural Centre and this week I start volunteering again as a driver for the Cancer Agency.\u00a0\u00a0 We also have canvassing to do in our neighbourhood and maybe will get started to that today and then there is the garden!!!<\/p>\n llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/em> <\/em><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++<\/p>\n The next Ceilidh Dance is not until Friday, September 26th, 2014.\u00a0\u00a0 I have tried an experiment and registered with Meetup and 13 people have “joined” and most say they will come.\u00a0 I will have to post some further notice nearer the time and maybe gather a few more interested folk.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Summer vacation family snap?<\/p>\n Michelle has very kindly made up a Facebook event page for the Ceilidh but you need to “Search for Vancouver Ceilidh on Facebook and “Like” us to receive updates on upcoming Ceilidhs and other events”. Then, if you “Like” the Vancouver Ceilidh FB page (do as described above), you too will receive updates AND be able to share those updates and events on your personal Facebook page to your friends and ask that they “Like” and “Share”, etc.<\/p>\n Ceilidh Dances are great ways to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries etc. Invite all your friends to come and join you at the Ceilidh. \n<\/em>I’ve also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there. I have, however , been in Sane. They don’t have an airport; you have to be driven there.<\/em>I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work.
\n<\/em>I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I’m not too much on physical activity anymore.
\nI have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often. I’ve been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm.
\nSometimes I’m in Capable, and I go there more often as I’m getting older.
\nOne of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart!<\/em> At my age I need all the stimuli I can get!
