A beautiful day out at Ballachulish

The Ceilidh Dance on November 26 was a great success with 35 keen young (mostly) folk enjoying an evening of fun.  The band were in fine form despite the layoff and Alison taught some really enjoyable dances.  There were no problems with Covid and we checked that everyone had been fully vaccinated,  There were a number of students from UBC and we hope they will come again – we tried to bribe them with extra cookies!

So now it is a wait again not because of Covid but because everyone has so much on at this time of year.  The next dance (all being well Covid restriction wise) is not until January 28, 2022 – put it on your calendar now!  It will be great way to work off all the goodies you have indulged in over the festive season. It will be at the Scottish Cultural Centre, 8886 Hudson Street, Vancouver with the class at 7 pm followed by the dance at 8 pm.

All those attending will have to have a BC authorized vaccination passport showing you have had two jabs plus proof of identity and masks will be mandatory to enter the building and must be worn in the common areas such as corridors and washrooms.  We will be taking your names & contact info so you can be reached in the unlikely event that there is an outbreak.  You will be required to put on your mask when not dancing and wherever possible keep 6 meters apart.

The dance, and future dances, will be held at the Scottish Cultural Centre, 8886 Hudson Street, Vancouver but, there is a slight change of time.  The class will be held in the large hall from 7;00 – 7:45 then we will all exit to give the band a chance for a sound check etc. and the dance will run from 8:00 – 10:30 with live music by Calanais.  Alison will continue to be your teacher/caller so you are guaranteed to have a great evening.  No change to the admission – still $15 with students $10.

The 2021/22 season dances are scheduled as follows:-

January 28, 2022
February 25
March 25
April 29
Mark your calendars now!

Let us all celebrate that we are getting back together for dancing and fun again.  Any questions?  please contact me – ceilidhmackenzie@gmail.com

We have lost one of out major volunteers due to work and family commitments.  Bonnie has been a volunteer taking money at the door, balancing the cash, paying any bills and the band, filling in when we needed an extra dancer, babysitting, filling water jugs, clearing up, getting the liquor licence, etc., etc.  We are going to miss Bonnie, not only for all the work she did but most of all for her always cheery, welcoming smile.  We hope that she will be able to drop by and visit at one of the Ceilidh Dances.
Is there anyone who would like to volunteer for one or all of these duties?  If so please send me an email – ceilidhmackenzie@gmail.com

Two priests died at the same time and met St. Peter at the Pearly Gates. St. Peter said, “I’d like to get you guys in now, but our computer is down. You’ll have to go back to Earth for about a week, but you can’t go back as priests. So, what else would you like to be?”

The first priest said, “I’ve always wanted to an eagle, soaring above the Rocky Mountains.” “So be it,” said St. Peter, and off flies the priest.

The second priest mulls this over for a minute and asks, “Will any of this week ‘count?'”

“No,” said St. Peter. “there’s no way we can keep track of what you’re doing.”

“In that case, says the second priest, “I’ve always wanted to be a stud.”

“So be it,” said St. Peter, and the second priest disappears. A week goes by, the computer is fixed, and the Lord tells St. Peter to recall the two priests.

“Will you have any trouble locating them?” he asks.

“The first one should be easy — he’s somewhere over the Rockies, but the second one could prove to be more difficult,” St. Peter replies.

“Why?” asks the Lord.

“He’s on a snow tire, somewhere in Newfoundland”..

If you are a senior you will understand this one; if you deal with seniors, this should help you understand them a little better, and if you are not a senior yet…God willing, someday you will be…

We went to breakfast at a restaurant where the ‘seniors’ special’ was two eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast for $2.99.

‘Sounds good,’ my wife said. ‘But I don’t want the eggs.’

‘Then, I’ll have to charge you $3.49 because you’re ordering a la carte,’ the waitress warned her.

‘You mean I’d have to pay for not taking the eggs?’ my wife asked incredulously.

‘YES!’ stated the waitress..

‘I’ll take the special then,’ my wife said..

‘How do you want your eggs?’ the waitress asked.

‘Raw and in the shell,’ my wife replied.

She took the two eggs home and baked a cake.

Hi everyone. This is the best video I have seen so far from the flooding and road damage in the valley up to Hope, passed on by a friend. Camp Hope one of our go to RV spots, you will see is again doing their best to accommodate people in need as they did for the evacuees from the Lytton fire this summer. What a fine group of Canadians we have at Camp Hope..

====================================================

It snowed last night …   We received about 2 inches of snow yesterday and

8:00 am: I made a snowman.

8:10 – A feminist passed by and asked me why I didn’t make a snow woman.

8:15 – So, I made a snow woman.

8:17 – My feminist neighbor complained about the snow woman’s voluptuous chest saying it objectified women everywhere.

8:20 – The gay couple living nearby threw a hissy fit and moaned it could have been two snowmen instead.

8:22 – The transgender man…woman… person asked why I didn’t just make one snow person with detachable parts.

8:25 – The vegans at the end of the lane complained about the carrot nose, as veggies are food and are not used to decorate snow figures.

8:28 – I was being called a racist because the snow couple is white.

8:30 – I used food coloring to make one of the snow couple a different color and be more racially inclusive.

8:37 – Then accused of using a black face on the snowperson.

8:39 – The middle eastern gent across the road demanded the snow woman be completely covered.

8:40 – The police arrived saying someone had been offended.

8:42 – The feminist neighbor complained again that the broomstick of the snow woman needed to be removed because it depicted women in a domestic role.

8:43 – The ‘council on equality’ officer arrived and threatened me with eviction.

8:45 – TV news crew showed up. I was asked if I know the difference between snowmen and snow-women? I replied “Snowballs” and am now a sexist.

9:00 – I was on the news as a suspected terrorist, racist, homophobe, and sensibility offender, bent on stirring up trouble during difficult weather.

9:10 – I was asked if I have any accomplices. My children were taken by social services.

9:29 – Far left protesters offended by everything marched down the street demanding that I be arrested.

9:45 – The boss called and fired me because of the negative association with work that had been all over social media.

10:00 – I cry into my drink because all I wanted to do was build a snowman…

Moral: There isn’t a moral to this story. It is what this world has become because of a bunch of snowflakes.
