On a sad note:
I’m sorry to advise those of you in our extended Scottish Cultural Centre family that Brett McMillan passed away in his sleep this morning.
His family is holding a Celebration of Life for Brett here at SCC in the main ballroom on August 14th at 3:00pm, and is asking all who would like to share a memory of Brett to write it down and send it to me or bring it with you on the day. A microphone will be set-up for those of you who would like to say a word or two.
For those of you who did not really know him, Brett was a caretaker/sound man/raconteur and general helper and the Scottish Centre for many years. He succumbed to cancer and has been off work for 2/3 years. An Australian he was always willing to tel a story, was a great help to many and was always very cheerful with a big smile. He will be missed.
Pope’s Blessing :
The Pope was finishing his sermon. He ended it with the Latin phrase, “Tuti Homini” – Blessed be Mankind.
A women’s rights group approached the Pope the next day. They noticed That the Pope blessed all Mankind, but not Womankind.
The next day, after his sermon, the Pope concluded by saying, “Tuti Homini, et Tuti Femini” – Blessed be Mankind and Womankind.
The next day a gay rights group approached the Pope. They noticed he Blessed Mankind and Womankind, and asked if he could also bless gay people. He said, “Sure.”
The next day the Pope concluded his sermon with, “Tuti Homini, et Tuti Femini, et Tuti Fruiti.”
I was in the ‘Six Item Express’ lane at the supermarket, quietly fuming.
Completely ignoring the sign, the woman ahead of me had slipped into the check-out line pushing a cart piled high with groceries. Imagine my delight when the cashier beckoned the woman to come forward, looked into the cart and asked sweetly, “So – which six items would you like to buy?”
Wouldn’t it be great if that happened more often?
Because they had no reservations at a busy restaurant, my elderly neighbor and his wife were told there would be a 45-minute wait for a table.
“Young man, we’re both 90 years old,” the husband said. “We may not have 45 minutes.”
They were seated immediately.
The reason Politicians try so hard to get re-elected is that they would “hate” to have to make a living under the laws they’ve passed.
We really need some rain. It is very nice but there are all these forest fires, people losing their homes, etc. Spare a thought for all those affected.
A recent study has found women who carry a little extra weight live longer than men who mention it.
Kids today don’t know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.
Senility has been a smooth transition for me.
This has to be the world’s most complex and magnificent music box ever!

I don’t always go the extra mile, but when I do it’s because I missed my exit.
Ate salad for dinner. Mostly croutons and tomatoes. Really just one big round crouton covered with tomato sauce, and cheese. FINE, it was a pizza…. OK, I ate a pizza! Are you happy now?
I just did a week’s worth of cardio after walking into a spider web.
I don’t mean to brag, but I finished my 14-day diet food supply in 3 hours and 20 minutes. ======================================================

Don’t be worried about your smartphone or TV spying on you. Your vacuum cleaner has been collecting dirt on you for years.
If you can’t think of a word say “I forgot the English word for it.” That way people will think you’re bilingual instead of an idiot.
I’m at a place in my life where errands are starting to count as going out.
I’m getting tired of being part of a major historical event.
Have you had both Jabs? If not why? What are you waiting for? You will not be admitted to Ceilidh Dances unless you have had 2 jabs of the approved vaccines
May your troubles be one, may your blessings be more,
and may nothing but happiness come through your door.
